Flagship, Inc. the premiere clearinghouse in the Caribbean was purchased by the Virgin Islands Charteryacht League (www.vicl.org) in the early 1980’s to service the growing number of crewed charter yachts operating in the United States and the British Virgin Islands. Flagship, Inc., formerly Homeport, was originally conceived as a clearinghouse owned and operated by its members. Once Flagship was the only clearinghouse in the Caribbean, independent of a charter yacht brokerage, however we now offer an “in house” broker to cater to the needs of clients that contact us to book charters. The broker works independently outside of the office, so she is not exposed to any of the other brokers proprietary client information. Flagship, Inc attends fully to the needs of its member yachts and the charter yacht brokers throughout the world.

The crewed charter industry has evolved since the 1980’s. Since the advent of the World Wide Web, selling on the internet has become common place. Thousands of dollars once used for producing and distributing print brochures are now being invested in internet presence for the yacht crews/owners, clearinghouse and brokers. As more and more people have access to the web knowledge of what we once called “the best kept vacation secret” is becoming widespread. Vacationing habits of middle class families around the world have evolved. Expectations of clients have evolved. The simple monohull sailing vessels common in the 1980’s and 1990’s are slowly being replaced with larger, more luxurious vessels. As Flagship, Inc. is member owned and operated, it has shifted it’s services to accommodate the changing global marketplace.

Our office is located in the Yacht Haven Grande Marina, on St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. Despite the exotic locale, we offer all the benefits of a US based business including the use of an FDIC insured banking facility. We also offer daily (week days and non-holidays) forwarding service for mail and packages to the BVI & other locations, in addition to providing regular mail service and all other shore services normally required by our yachts.
